'Tony Blair' and 'George Bush'

Why We Went to War

Mon 18 Dec 9pm
Docudrama: Why did Tony Blair take Britain to war in Iraq?

Iraq: the Bloody Circus homepage >

Why We Went to War traces the decision from 9/11 to the eve of the invasion using dramatic reconstruction and interviews with key journalists.

The drama portrays Tony Blair, and his close colleagues and advisors as they debated the right thing to.

Every scene in the drama is based on a combination of firsthand sources, official documents and off the record briefings with participants at the highest level.

This original drama vividly portrays the tensions and the arguments behind the scenes as Tony Blair strenuously argued his case with colleagues friends and advisors for going to war in Iraq alongside George Bush.

Even when it seemed that everyone was against him, and there were tens of thousands of New Labour supporters out on the streets protesting against his policy, Tony Blair stood his ground, telling his private office staff that "I cannot know what I know about Saddam and his weapons of mass destruction and do nothing. It's just not possible".
