With only four weeks to encourage everyone to back the car-free scheme, Kris needed financial backing to produce leaflets and posters to advertise the event. She sought help from the local council; they provided a grant to produce the printed materials. The campaign group leafleted the towns, estates and markets. Meanwhile, Kris made radio appearances to inform the listeners of the event and the importance of taking part in the car-free day.
