How to be greener and keep your creature comforts
Tips 1 – 5 | Tips 6 – 10 | Tips 11 – 15 | Tips 16 – 20
Tip 1: Save Power in the Shower
You use far less water when you have a shower. Choose the shower more often, and save those long, hot soaks for a special treat.
Tip 2: Bricking It
Dual-flush toilets save on water, but if you don't have one, then simply place a brick or large stone into you cistern. This will reduce the amount of water that you flush away (and pay for).
Tip 3: Stop the Leaks
Fix leaky taps as quick as you can. You can also fit flow restrictors to your taps that reduce the volume of water that runs away when you turn the tap on. You could do this in cloakroom or utility sinks where you won't mind so much.
Tip 4: Wash at 30°C
No need for those boil washes anymore. Modern washing powders get your clothes just as clean at low temperatures.
Tip 5: Dry 'Au Naturel'
Whenever possible dry your clothes on a drying rack or a clothes line, inside or out.
