From: Reigate, Surrey
Profession: Personal Trainer
Quote: I speak my mind, I'm sometimes not popular for doing it, but I don't give a monkey's
Selena is a strong practical woman who doesn't suffer fools. She thinks that her interest in survival training was an asset on the Dump.
She believes she is pretty green. She lives on her boat, recycles everything, eats only organic and avoids any products she thinks are harmful to the environment.
'I even tried to get my company to recycle the plastic cups from the gym and one staff member even offered to buy the necessary receptacles herself but the idea was rejected dipsticks, what planet do managers live on?!'
'People I speak to say 'isn't it terrible about the polar bears ' it makes me furious they're all flaming responsible it is NOT someone else's problems, it's ours.'
Selena is an advocate of survival training. She believes our national infrastructure will not last, and when it goes 'tits up' she wants to be prepared for the worse. This is one of the reasons she wants to take part in Dumped.
'I need a challenge I have made a point of having a go at lots of things in the past, eg parachuting, flying, cross country jumping on the horses, motor biking, a little survival training, climbing, hiking etc but they are all selfish, thrill seeking pursuits.'
'I am torn by my conscience about what I do and how I travel now, because of the oil/carbon debt issue. I don't ride my motorbike that much these days, and my boat stays moored 99% of the time. I would love to live and work in a sustainable eco community and put something back into the world, or at the very least, stop taking out without putting something back.'
