Jason's Quotes
Exactly what was it that Jason said again?
Check out all of Jason's quotes direct from the Dump:
I like to think of solutions outside of the box. If there are one or two options I am guaranteed to come up with a third.
Jason on his practical skills
The world is warming up. I'm not convinced that we are the cause, however, it doesn't absolve us of the responsibility to actively try to prevent it from happening. I think recycling is great, but seeing as I don't believe the government actually recycles a lot of the stuff we give them, I don't believe it's working properly.
Jason on recycling
On a scale of 1 to 10 this is pretty bad.
Jason on the Dump
I really thought we were going to be in Africa. So to be on a dump... is smelly, dusty and really not my cup of tea. The thing I'm most worried about is catching something from the Dump. This is not what I'm used to, nothing close to what I'm used to.
Jason on being out of his comfort zone
Those seagulls are really starting to annoy me. They do not shut up. Them and the flies... and the rats, and the cockroaches.
Jason on the Dump wildlife
You can taste rotting things in here.
Jason on the trip to the working landfill site
Hold on, very important question here, if he takes away all the useful waste that we have got we won’t be able to build anything.
Jason on selling their scrap for cash
Spoke to Christine before about artwork and she informed me that her work will take the entire three weeks that she is here and that is her purpose for being here which kinda surprised me.
Jason on Christine's art installation
It’s awful, it smells, it’s dusy, I’m hot, I’m burned.
Jason on the hottest day on the Dump yet
My throat hurts, my chest hurts, my nose hurts, and my feet hurt. I just hurt.
Jason on how he feels
Can I just say one thing on the whole subject of whether we're working as a group or as individuals. I think we have to bear in mind that we're here on an eco-challenge. If anyone feels that their primary purpose for being here is not for the environment then they should probably re-evaluate themselves. The reason for the group being here as a whole has to be about the environment.
Jason on the point of the challenge
The majority of the group saw pound signs, weren’t interested in what we could possibly use stuff for, they just want immediate luxuries, without thinking about the long-term, without thinking what we could use stuff for.

Essentially this is just a very big bashed together tent, made out of bits of rope, string and tarp... It’s actually beginning to smell worse in here than it does out on the dump.
Jason on the state of the shelter
I remember seeing a solar power in Israel very briefly which had piping which ran around the side of it. It was painted black. It was enclosed in glass and I’ve just theorized the rest. I don’t know if it’s going to work or not.
Jason on his plans to build a solar shower
Do you know what, let’s just see if we’ve got hot water? Let’s just do the hot water test.
Jason on testing his solar shower
I had to work with the materials at hand which is not ideal, but as far as I’m concerned it’s a complete success. That solar panel is warm, it’s hot, it’s insulated and most importantly it’s 100% successful.
Jason on his solar shower success
That solar tank was not heated with solar hot water. Categorically not. I won’t be drawn on it.
Jason on how effective his solar shower really is
Burning fuels is technology that is a hundred years old
Jason refuses to use the biofuel generator
