Ian has just left the navy and is at a real crossroads in life. He applied for the show because he is looking for a new challenge.
'Three weeks in harsh conditions. I want to participate because I have become very excited and passionate about the project. I feel its something I can contribute to and I would relish the challenge.'
During his five years in the navy, Ian was a team leader in the propulsion and controls section of a type 42 destroyer and the onboard fire fighting team. He was an authoritative figure and helped to train other crew. He completed a degree in marine engineering whilst he was in the navy.
Ian is sport crazy and enjoys watching all types of sport, in particular rugby. He has played rugby for the Navy and this took him to tournaments in the USA, Bulgaria and Spain. Ian lists his greatest achievement to date as being awarded the player of the tournament in the USA competition.
