How did they go to the toilet?
Initially, while they concentrated on building a shelter and settling into their new home, they were given two portable toilets. However, once the shelter was built the toilets were taken away and it was revealed to them that they had to build their own sanitation requirements.
They were all quite horrified at the prospect of having to deal with their own human waste. But the group got into the spirit and built a couple of composting loos which they affectionately named The Shitter and The Pisspot.
After each use of The Shitter they emptied it into a composting container where they added straw and earth to balance the nitrogen and carbon. This stopped it smelling too bad and attracting flies. Each week, the 'compost' needed stirring so the group held a competition with the loser reluctantly having to take responsibility for this job.
