Something clicked
Eco-design expert and Dumped guru, Rob Holdway, gives you the lowdown on our volunteers, rubbish and Dumped.
How had attitudes in the group changed over three weeks?
After the initial shock of arriving at the dump, the group threw themselves into building their shelter and their composting loo. It was about survival.
However, they soon began to flag. They were tired, dirty and they began to lose their early enthusiasm. The reality of life on the dump was starting to sink in. Their different motivations for being on this challenge started to cause problems.
In the last week, they began to embrace the possibility that rubbish can be useful. It finally clicked. They understood that rubbish costs us cash and that it can also be a valuable resource.
