Big Surprise as the End Nears...

Watch Video: And now the end is near... >

News: One last surpriseIt's their final day on the dump. The three-week challenge is over at last, and amazingly 10 out of the original 11 have made it through. They've succeeded in building an eco village out of the stuff they found on the dump. The £20,000 reward will be split equally between them.

Now the bus that brought them is making its way towards them just to take them home … or so they think. The bus door swings open and to their amazement and delight one by one their family and friends step off the bus. It is the last thing they expected and there's a palpable sense of emotion as they're reunited with the loved ones they haven't seen in three weeks.

Sasha's sister and boyfriend are shocked by how she has been living, and that she has stuck it out. Boyfriend Matt surveys the dump and admits: 'I can't believe that someone could live like this really cos I don't think I could.'

Aaron proudly shows his mum and two friends the composting loo he helped build, although this special moment is somewhat marred by a massive turd unexpectedly lurking in the bucket which causes them all to run away.

Final thoughts

As Jason shows his wife around, she asks whether he's enjoyed the experience. 'It's been an interesting experiment and a great project,' he answers diplomatically before concluding, 'Have I enjoyed it? No. I haven't enjoyed it. It's been quite harsh, quite difficult. The conditions are not what I would want to live in.'

'I am quite sad and this bag's heavy,' is Jarvis' final thought as he staggers off under the weight of his rucksack.

For Aaron, the moment is all about looking back at what they've achieved: 'The one word I would use to describe this experience is inspirational,' is his verdict.

For Lawrence he's 'glad to be leaving the dump but it's a shame that you leave such good people behind. We've already got things planned so it's not really a goodbye forever. Well it's a goodbye forever to the dump. I'm never gonna live here again,' he vows, probably to the relief of his parents.
