The group's first challenge was to build a shelter. Using carpenter Darren's and Navy engineer Ian's skills they knocked up an A-frame tent using old scaffolding poles and blue tarpaulin. Rob wasn't that impressed and thought they could've been more imaginative.

What sort of shelter would you have built?

Don't care as long as it keeps me warm and dry
One with enough space to get a bit of privacy
Something that will keep out the wildlife - I don't fancy waking up next to a rat
To be honest, I'd make a tent just like the volunteers
I'd try to make something that will last us the 3 weeks and that we can add to later
Doesn't matter as long as we haven't got to go outside at night to use the loo
