Day 8
The dumper arrives and delivers a new load of rubbish for the dump. Jason gets in early to get good stuff before Christine takes it for her installation.
Rob arrives and announces that he is going to be staying on the dump with the group for the next 24 hours.
Rob takes Selena, Jarvis and Sylvia on a trip around the dump to try and inspire them to find things that will make the camp look better. After this, Selena starts working on how to make the solar shower look better – she's going to stick plastic bottles in an old mattress frame.
Sylvia starts to make Jason's cake for his birthday. Whilst this is going on, Rob helps Sasha and Jermaine to make a hot tub. Shortly after, Jermaine and Sasha appear half naked and plunge themselves into the hot-tub. Sasha looks around proudly and says 'I can't believe I made this out of rubbish!'
Day 9
Rob wakes up in the camp and says that it is uncomfortable and that they could do far better.
Jason is working on his own to try and create the solar shower without realising that he is doing it wrong. He finally figures it out and the shower is ready to go.
Rob brings trolleys stuffed full of overly packaged food into camp and points out why they are bad examples of packaging. He explains that manufacturers are not legally obliged to print what type of plastic the packaging is made from and as a result perfectly recyclable stuff never gets recycled as no-one knows what it is.
A load of plants that were going to be thrown out by garden centres is delivered so they can create a garden and use they grey water to look after them.
Day 10
Lawrence and Ian talk about their three-day plan to improve the living area.
Sasha starts looking for items on the site to make a sauna for the group. She explains that just because they are living on the dump doesn't mean they have be down in the dumps.
The dumper delivers 1000 thrown-out mobile phones. The group build a cycle-powered generator to charge a battery for their phone so they can call home.
Jermaine is cycling furiously on the bike attempting to power up the mobile – phoning home means a lot to him.
Day 11
The dumper delivers a selection of discarded clothes. Aaron and Sasha are sorting through the discarded textiles and they dress Sasha up in what they find.
Jason is still working on the shower but claims that it's not his fault it's talking so long.
Day 12
The day starts with lots of scavenging (Ray the scrap man is arriving later today).
Before lunchtime, a huge truck-full of compost is dumped onto the site. Christine joyfully jumps right into it up to her knees. She says she is going to make the plants beautiful again with the compost.
Ray the scrap man arrives (with his mate Jeff) to bargain with the group on the items they have scavenged. They have a banter about how much the copper they have stripped is worth. After a tricksy bargaining session, the group earns £82.
Lawrence is demonstrating the pedal generator with the energy-saving light bulb. He says it's amazing that they've created all of it from rubbish. But he also points out how hard he is having to pedal to get it to light up. He says it makes you realise just how much energy is in one light bulb.
The group decide to buy a wind turbine with the money they made from Ray.
Day 13
It started to rain.
The dumper pulls up to the camp and unloads more materials and junk. Sasha sees things from which she can design and build her own spa as she is determined to prove that you can have luxury on the rubbish dump.
Rob delivers the wind turbine and congratulates them on buying it. They work as a team to get it up and connect it to a 12 volt fridge.
Sasha facilitates the sauna being built. Rob comes over and chats to Sasha about the shelter.
Rob goes in and gives them their treats.
Day 14
They prepare the big build of the new shelter. Lawrence is leading the group and he explains his plan and what it means. He splits the group into groups, allocates jobs and sets the rota for tea breaks in which they will provide him with progress reports. He sets them to work in military style.
The group works together and pulls the tent down. They lay the foundations and generally work extremely hard for one of the first times.
Day 15
It's raining.
Sylvia, Sasha and Aaron have slept in the sauna overnight. The group continue to rebuild their shelter.
Group meeting to outline the day ahead. Aaron, Sasha and Sylvia are late as a result of sleeping in the sauna. They have not been allowed to have a shower as they are late.
Because he's missed his shower, Aaron tries to quickly hose himself down but the water runs out.
