Day 4
The group scavenges for goods to sell to Ray the scrap man. Selena spends all day collecting plastic bottles.
Rob talks to Ian about rebuilding the camp; he is planning to rebuild the shelter. Ian wants to build a waterproof kitchen and move the fire.
The group meets to discuss the agenda for the building of the new shelter. Ian leads the meeting and assigns roles to the rest of the group.
Rob gathers the group to announce that the chemical toilet is going to be removed and they must replace it with a composting version. The group sit and discuss the pros and cons of sitting or squatting over the composting toilet.
Day 5
In the night it rains for the first time. Selena is the only one to get up and try to cover up their food.
The chemical toilets are removed. Lawrence designs the composting toilet and gathers the group together for a meeting about his master toilet plan. Lawrence is very organised – he has put the group in three teams (The Shitter, The Pisspot and The Compost), all of which have been given a board with instructions.
Day 6
Generally quite a slow day and the group are not properly scavenging for the recycling task.
Ray the scrap man is visiting tomorrow. Despite this, none of the group (with the exception of Selena) are bothering with the scavenging task. For Jason it's the Sabbath. This is the first day Rob hasn't been here, and the work ethic has become minimal.
Day 7
Lawrence calls a meeting and says they need to sort out their toilet hygiene. There is a big issue with the urinal – it's leaking and no-one bothered to tell Lawrence and he is cross. An argument then develops about how some people aren't taking responsibility for changing toilet rolls when they finish.
Ray the scrap man pulls up in his truck. The group joke with him as he weighs what they've got to offer and attempt to haggle for better prices. He gives them £25 for the copper water heater but refuses to take the aluminium cans because they haven't tested them with a magnet to check which are steel.
He also refuses to buy Selena's skip-full of plastic bottles as she hasn't taken the labels off or pre-sorted them by plastic type. All in all they make £45 for their work.
