Jo's household philosophy
I am the breadwinner and the business mind in this house. I created our businesses from scratch, and made them what they are today. My hard work has paid off. My husband stays home because I’m the one who’s good at running a business; I’m the strong one in this house who has the talent for business. And I love work, I’d easily work seven days a week if I could.
Tory values are at the heart of this family. I believe in hard work, being self-sufficient, having family values. We are involved in local politics, and me and Dave are standing for election this year as Tory counsellors. Dave spends a lot of his time campaigning locally against Labour and leafleting for the Conservative party.
I want my boys to achieve their potential. They are really talented boys, and the most important thing is that they pursue their talents and become successful. I push them to achieve, and if I have to bully them to make sure that they do well, then that is what I do. Failure is not an option.
At home, I want the boys to have the freedom they need and deserve. I want this house to be warm and comforting. I was made to do housework as a kid, and I didn’t want my boys to have to do the same. As long as I can see them working hard at their talents, then I want them to relax at home, and have their creature comforts. Treats are fine, we don’t have lots of firm rules, and although sometimes I think we should be firmer with them, I think it’s more important that they’re happy. The most important thing is that they’re both going to be achievers and very successful in life.
