Audrey's rules
Introduced after a week living with Richard:
- Richard works hard all day so is not to come home and clean. He is to be regarded as 'king of the house'
- The girls are too spoiled – their dad does too much for them. The girls, and Audrey, will clean the house every day for an hour and a half before school
- The whole family will drink full-fat milk with their dinner
- The girls will no longer be driven to school but will have to get the public school bus

Christie's rules
Introduced after a week living with Jeff:
- Jeff runs the farm like a business and used the children like cheap labour. This is to stop.
- The kids will do no more farm work.
- Christie will do no more farm work; Jeff will be required to do it all.
- Jeff is to bring Christie breakfast in bed every day.
