Before filming starts, each wife writes a manual explaining how their house is run. Below are highlights from Lynn's manual.

HOUSEHOLD CHORES

How often do you clean your home?
I am a homemaker and I keep a clean and neat home for my family. I do all the cleaning myself, in between my two jobs as a woodcutter and bus driver.

Who does the general cleaning around the house?
I do all the cleaning; Brad and the children usually don't help.

WHO DOES THE FOLLOWING, AND HOW OFTEN?

Vacuuming?
I vacuum every room in the house on Saturday mornings. I vacuum the whole house, top to bottom.

Dusting?
I dust the entire house on Saturday mornings.

Ironing?
We don't iron our clothes. A few creases never hurt anyone!

Cleaning the bathroom?
I clean the bathroom on Saturdays. I scrub the bath and toilet with cleaning solution.

Clothes washing?
I wash all clothes and bedding on Sunday morning.

Cleaning the kitchen?
I clean the kitchen every single day. I put away dishes, papers, wipe down counters and clean the floor every two days.

Washing-up?
I wash the dishes and pots twice a day. I load the dishwasher once in the morning and once before I go to bed. I run it once a day. I hate a messy kitchen. I can't stand to go to bed unless the dishes have been done.

COOKING / MEALS

Where do you eat?
We eat in the kitchen. It is the only time we all sit down together. We believe in eating together is part of normal family life. We always sit down and eat together every single night.

When are meal times?
I prepare a home-cooked meal which we eat between 6pm and 7pm. On weekends, I prepare a home-cooked breakfast of pancakes, bacon and eggs for the family at around 9am.

Who prepares meals?
I do all the cooking in this house; my family enjoy home-cooked food and I enjoy cooking it for them. It is something I am very proud of – cooking for your family is a way of showing that you love them.

I also love to bake on the weekends and will make apple pies, cookies etc. The kids love to bake with me.

Does Brad help with dinner?
No, Brad doesn't cook.

DAILY ROUTINE

What time do you get up?
5.30am on weekdays and 6am on weekends.

Do you ever get a lie-in?
I never get to sleep in – there is always something to do.

How do you spend your week-day evenings?
Brad is firmly planted in front of the television on a nightly basis. I don't get much chance to sit down as there is still housework to do in the evening.

What time do you go to bed?
Between 9.30pm and 11pm.

DISCIPLINE

Who does the childcare? What does it involve
We have always been very close to our children. No matter how busy our lives are, there is always time for our children. We don't believe in allowing other people to raise our children.

How do you discipline the children?
We ground them from using the phone or computer or from seeing friends.

THE RELATIONSHIP

What tips can you give for coping with Brad?
Brad is very laid back. He likes to do things in his own time. He is a procrastinator by nature unless it has to do with hunting or is something that directly relates to him. Brad doesn't know the meaning of the word ‘romance’.

How do you like to be treated?
I like people who are ‘down to earth’.

HOUSE PHILOSOPHY

Please sum up the philosophy of this house and life within it.
Being a good mum and a good wife is extremely important to me.

Family comes first; life revolves around the family. The children are the most important thing in our lives.

What you see is what you get with us. We are simple, home-loving folk.

I have an extremely busy schedule and anyone trying to do what I do will have to be ready to roll her sleeves up and get down to some very hard work. You will have to be ready to break a sweat!

If you want something done, you are going to have to do it yourself. Brad is just not there when it comes to chores and the kids aren't either.
