VEE-TV gets down and dirty.
Some people say that deaf people can’t enjoy music… but of course they’d be wrong. On today’s show we get things off on the right beat, bringing you the latest from Deaf Storm, a one-of-a-kind clubbing experience for Deaf people up in rainy Sheffield. Ahmed and Nikki get down and dirty on the dance floor, and even meet up with the Cheeky Girls for a quick chat to ask that burning question, does everyone try to touch your bum?
In the meantime, our lovely Rebecca gets access all areas at the Big Brovaz video shoot. A natural at celebrity schmoozing, she mingles with Nadia, Cherise, J-Rock and Randy, living the champagne lifestyle that the VEE-TV presenters are obviously accustomed to. “Hangin’ Around,” their latest new single is released on the 24th April, with their new album out in May.
The VEE-Team hit the road to meet some dedicated music lovers who can tell us what the soundtrack to their lives is, and how they enjoy their music. We meet talented break-dancer, Jermaine Kinsman; opera signer, Wendy Ebsworth; Andrew Coombs, a footballer with massive red woofers in his car and Edward Evans, who has transformed his garden shed into a studio where he can play guitar.
VEE-TV wouldn’t be complete without our motley crew of celebrities. We head over to the studio and grab Craig David, Goldfrapp, Sugababes and Shakira who tell us why music is so important to them.
This week we also welcome Matty Powe, a midfielder from St John’s Arsenal Deaf FC. Matty does his own sign-song version of the Arctic Monkeys, “When The Sun Goes Down.” The Arctic Monkeys are the name on everybody’s lips at the moment, their debut album was the fastest selling in history and they won best newcomer at this years Brits.
And last, but certainly not least, we introduce a new feature to this years show. VEE-Challenge takes the most daring and death defying of deaf people. These are the kind of people who hurtle themselves off cliffs and swim the Atlantic ocean, all before their first cup of morning coffee.
This week we meet reporter, Charly Arrowsmith, who has to learn to spin the decks in only one week. Taught by mentor, DJ LutyKBooty, better known as Pebbles by her friends; Charly must find her inner music monster and unleash it on the crowd at Deaf Storm.
Let’s hope it doesn’t all go Pete Tong.
