Ahmed
Ahmed Mudawi

Ahmed’s mainly seen wearing a hat this series after cutting off the amazingly big afro he sported in series 5 – he’s only recently been forgiven by the producers of the show. Originally from Sudan, working in TV has long been Ahmed’s ambition, and indeed, he’s been a presenter on VEE-TV since the first series of the show. Away from the cameras, Ahmed’s a Senior Support Worker at the RNID, putting his charm to full use even when there aren’t millions of TV viewers watching. A recent fan letter commented that ‘Ahmed will look young even when he’s 50,’ which is funny, because he is, er, 50 years old. Don’t tell him how we found out.

What has been your favourite thing about VEE-TV so far this year?

I just love being a VEE-TV presenter, I don’t have a particular favourite moment; it’s always brilliant working with the fabulous crew and production.

If you had £50 billion to blow on a VEE-TV programme, what would it be about?

I would bring in more new reporters, I’d get 50 international reporters from all over the world and presenters from other countries. I’d set up a VEE-TV studio and production office in Europe. I’d set up training courses for all the Deaf people out there who are keen to work in the media; setting up VEE-TV schools in Africa, South America and Asia. Oh, and I’d have a TV and Film Festival with a VEE-TV competition for films, pop videos etc. And I’d set up lots of VEE-TV channels, so we had a VEE-TV Extreme, VEE-TV Soaps, VEE-TV Kids, VEE-TV Competitions and VEE-TV News.

What do you hope the audience gains from VEE-TV?

I just hope they enjoy watching it and don’t miss an episode. I’d really love it if European and American Deafies could enjoy it too.

What is the best lie you’ve ever told?

Daddy or chips?

No chips but I’d like to be a daddy one day.
