In fact, everything went smoothly on 22 February when Will Smith zipped up
and down the country for three different premières of his fab new film
Hitch. Will plays Alex 'Hitch' Hitchens, a New York 'date doctor' who helps
guys hook the women of their dreams.
After taking his private jet up to the Printworks in Manchester, Will stopped
off in Birmingham on his way back down to London's Leicester Square, where VEE-TV
caught up with him. Alongside Will was co-star Eva Mendes, who plays Sara, the
gorgeous girl who stubbornly resists Hitch's expert charms. Also on board was
ex-supermodel Amber Valletta, who plays a glam celeb, and the stand-up comedian
Kevin James, who plays hopelessly shy accountant Albert.
'I've had a beautiful day,' Will said afterwards. 'The reaction from people
has been great, and I'm so grateful they came out to see me in the snow. I love
being able to meet my fans. It's the reason I do what I do.'
The film has already done brilliantly in America. It's directed by Andy Tennant,
who was once a dancer in the film Grease! Tennant also directed the
smash-hit Sweet Home Alabama and describes Will Smith as 'amazing'.
Smith became a superstar when he starred in The Fresh Prince of Bel Air,
but now he's perhaps best known for his role in Men In Black.
Hitch was released on 11 March.
