Don't be conned!
If you're thinking of supporting a campaign by wearing a wristband, like
the Make
Poverty History bands – then make sure you buy an official one,
so that the money goes to the charity you want to support. Fake wristbands
are being sold for inflated prices, and there's no way to check the money
is going where it should. For example, Nike's anti-racism wristband should
sell at £1.50 but is being sold for up to £8.99 online, and
Radio 1's 'Beat Bullying' blue bands – which were distributed free!
– have sold for up to £18.
Deaf Aware bands
One new band you can be sure is real is the latest 'Deaf Aware' wristband,
just released by Colchester Deaf Football Club and Colchester YMCA. Buy
yours now before supplies run out!

Partytime
For you party animals out there, Club Attitude, part of Artsline, will
be hosting a party at Bar Academy in London this Wednesday. Performances
will be sign-language interpreted. All profits go to 'Attitude is Everything',
a campaign to improve access to venues and festivals for disabled and
deaf artists and audiences.

Correction
Some of you may have noticed that on the website last week we transplanted
the 2005 Deaflympics from Melbourne all the way up to Montreal and also
that there were some captioning errors. The web editor has promised to
try harder.
