Yorkshire Deaf Gay and Lesbian Group
The next meeting will be held at Blayd's Bar, Lower Briggate, Leeds, on 4 June from 7pm till late. After that the meeting will take place every three months on the first Saturday of the month. Straight and hearing people also welcome.

Leeds cybercafé
Leeds Deaf Social Club has launched a cybercafé. A tutor from Joseph Priestley College is on hand to give surfing tips, and the club's kitchen serves food and drinks.

Wear 'deaf aware'
Colchester Deaf Football Club and Colchester YMCA have launched 'Deaf Aware' wristbands in a joint effort to raise money for their activities. The wristbands glow in the dark with the words 'deaf aware'. They're available for a minimum donation of £3.

Light, Love and Laughter

Deaf Rugby World Championships cancelled
Funding problems have prevented several deaf rugby unions from taking part in Deaf Rugby World Championships, and as a result the event has been cancelled. It is hoped that the championship can take place in Wales at a later date.


Birmingham football social evening

Birmingham Deaf Football Club (BDFC) will be holding a football presentation and social evening for the English Deaf Cup and League on 14 May at Birmingham Deaf Sport and Social Club, Centre for the Deaf, Edgbaston, Birmingham B16 8S2. The event starts at 8pm. Tickets are £5/£7 at door. There will be raffles, a buffet and a disco.

Advice for deaf artists
ENDA (Enterprise Network of Disabled Artists) – will be running a project aimed at Disabled and Deaf artists based or working in north-west England. Artists will be able to access specific business advice, develop individual business plans and attend business skills training days. The first training day 'Where Are the Pounds and How Do We Get Them'? will take place on 14 June at North West Disability Arts Forum, MPAC Building, 1–27 Bridport Street, Liverpool L3 5QF.

Middlesex performing arts foundation course
Chicken Shed Theatre Company has teamed up with Middlesex University to offer a new foundation degree programme based on its philosophy and practice of the inclusive performing arts. The theatre-based course can be studied full-time for two years or part-time over three to four years.
