Millennium Development Goals (MDG)
All United Nations member states have signed up to achieve certain goals by
2015. Goal number 1 is to eradicate extreme poverty and hunger. The website
has information about the goals plus lots or relevant links and a downloadable
pdf about progress on anti-poverty goals.
UNICEF (United
Nations Children's Fund)
UNICEF is the UN agency that works to protect children and help them achieve
a better life by combating poverty, conflict and HIV/AIDS. The site has tons
of information and includes Voices of Youth for young people.
United Nations
Development Programme
Website of the UN's global development network, which links and co-ordinates
global and national efforts to help people to improve their lives. The site
has lots of information on volunteering and articles about development.
War on Want
Fights poverty in developing countries in partnership with people affected by
globalisation, and campaigns for workers' rights and against the root causes
of global poverty, inequality and injustice. Check out how you can get involved
in their campaigns – 'Just Trade' and 'Make Poverty History'.
