The following is just a brief selection of websites related to the campaign to end poverty.

 

Action Aid
Development agency that has recently published a report highlighting how multinational food companies are threatening the fight against poverty in developing countries. Click on 'take action' to find out how you can get involved.

The Fairtrade Foundation

Information about the Fairtrade initiative to make sure producers get a fair price for their goods.

Make Poverty History
An association of more than 400 organisations aiming to end extreme poverty for good. Includes background info plus details of how you can get involved.

Make Trade Fair
Oxfam campaign and petition for fair trade.

Oxfam
Oxfam works to improve people's lives through emergency response, development programmes and campaigns.

Trade Justice Movement
Coalition of over 60 UK organisations campaigning for trade justice.

Traidcraft
UK's leading fair-trade organisation, which works with more than 100 producer groups in over 30 countries around the world.

UN Millennium Development Goals (MDG)
All United Nations member states have signed up to achieve certain goals by 2015. Goal number 1 is to eradicate extreme poverty and hunger. The website has information about the goals plus lots or relevant links and a downloadable pdf about progress on anti-poverty goals.

UNICEF (United Nations Children's Fund)
UNICEF is the UN agency that works to protect children and help them achieve a better life by combating poverty, conflict and HIV/AIDS. The site has tons of information and includes Voices of Youth for young people.

United Nations Development Programme
Website of the UN's global development network, which links and co-ordinates global and national efforts to help people to improve their lives. The site has lots of information on volunteering and articles about development.

War on Want
Fights poverty in developing countries in partnership with people affected by globalisation, and campaigns for workers' rights and against the root causes of global poverty, inequality and injustice. Check out how you can get involved in their campaigns – 'Just Trade' and 'Make Poverty History'.

World Development Movement
Tackles the underlying causes of poverty and lobbies decision-makers to change the policies that keep people poor. Sign up for an e-mail bulletin, write to your MP, attend a demo or join an online discussion.
