Deaf Cup Final
The England Deaf Cup Final will be on Saturday 7 May. Doncaster v Newcastle
United are playing for the Cup (kick off 11am), and Leeds and Charlton Athletic
are playing for the Plate (kick off 3pm). The ground is Aldershot Military
Stadium (Queens Avenue, Aldershot, GU11 2JL).
Cinemas mark Deaf Awareness Week
Cinemas throughout the UK have pledged to mark Deaf Awareness Week (May 2–8)
by screening extra subtitled films. UCI, for example, has said that 14 of
its cinemas will screen a subtitled film each day. To find out how you can
help improve deaf access to local cinemas, visit:

Meanwhile, the Northern Ireland Film and Television Commission (NIFTC) has
launched the Cinema Access Programme, which aims to enable deaf, hard-of-hearing,
blind and partially sighted people to access the latest films through specialist
subtitling and audio-description equipment. Participating cinemas are obliged
to screen one film a week under the initiative. Eight cinemas have already

Deaf and desperate
Desperate Housewives will be featuring a deaf character, played by
none other than Marlee Matlin, Wednesday 20th April on E4, and will be on
Channel 4 this Wednesday (27 April). Tune in!

Deaf Rave's Summer of Love party is scheduled for 6 August. And you can win
tickets on this site!
Meanwhile, you can join Thames3 in association with Deaf Rave on April 29
from midnight for a free exhibition/rave under Festival Pier on the South
Bank. Free drinks, music, exploratory artworks and spaces.
Disability Film Festival
The Seventh Disability Film Festival will be at the National Film Theatre,
London from 30 November – 4 December 2005. Have you written, directed
or produced a film? Deadline for the submission of films is 29 April.

Nasty Girls
A free event to mark the launch of the Disability Arts Cymru's new website
will take place on May 10 in the Ocean Lounge, North Wales Conference Centre
in Llandudno. Renowned Nasty Girls and up-and-coming singer/songwriter Susan
Hedges will be performing. The event will incorporate sign-language interpretation
and speech-to-text. Book in advance.

Nasty Girls are also performing their show 'Time Troupers' at this year's
Edinburgh Fringe, 11-19 August. They are looking for a disabled female actress
who has some experience of talent for performing comedy to join them. You
need to be based in the North West and available for rehearsals in late June

Deaf Connections is holding a fundraising Race Night and
