VEE PEOPLE

Meet the team...

William Mager (Billy, 'Jimmy Neutron Boy Genius', 'Piano Man')

Job with VEE-TV: Insert director

Star sign: Capricorn

Marital status: Not single!

School attended: Abbeydale Grange School, Sheffield

Life motto: 'There's something out there waiting for us, and it ain't no man.'

Favourite film: Singing in the Rain

Which single object could you not live without?

My laptop at home, with its wi-fi broadband connection. I spend too much time on it though.

Who would you choose to star in your life story?

Talk about a difficult question! I've narrowed it down to a shortlist of three. Alain Delon (as he looked in 1959); Carlos Bernard (Tony Almeida in 24, just because); or Dame Judi Dench (about time someone gave her a challenging role to play …)

If E.T. knocked on your door, holding up a peace sign, and asked to use your phone, what would you do?

Lend him my mobile phone, then kidnap him and hide him in my bedroom, writing a blockbuster film script about the whole experience to pay off the ensuing mobile phone bill.

What is the best thing about VEE-TV for you?

The people I work with every day. A lovely bunch of people and no mistake. (OK, where's my fiver?)

If you could make a film about anything for VEE-TV, what would it be?

A six-part history of the SAS, complete with big-budget Black Hawk Down-style dramatic reconstructions and a host of big-name stars playing the lead roles. Erm … can't think how that's deaf-related, but there you go.

What is your long-term aim?

To break into mainstream TV and filmmaking, at the same time helping other deaf people to succeed in the industry.
