Michael

Michael is a deaf tutor at the college and is very popular with the students because he is sympathetic and understanding, always doing his best to be both counsellor and friend. Sharp, witty and original in his thinking, he is a passionate campaigner for Deaf rights.

Deaf actor John Wilson began acting in amateur theatricals while working in the British Museum and starred in the first two signed musicals, The Boy Friend and West Side Story. After turning professional, he starred in a number of stage plays including Gary, written by Ray Harrison Graham and winner of an Edinburgh Fringe First, and Children Of A Lesser God, in which he played Orin. He has also worked on TV as a presenter on both See Hear (BBC) and Sign On (Channel 4) and as an actor in a number of plays.

John is currently the deaf arts officer for Shape, a disability arts organisation, opening up access to the arts for deaf, disabled and older people.
