Deep Chana: City Life

Deep Chana, 27, comes from Leeds but has been living and studying in Wolverhampton for the last three and a half years.

'I finished at the University of Wolverhampton last June and I got a 2:1 BA (Hons) in Electronic Media and Photography,' Deep told VEE-TV. 'I was so pleased to achieve that level and am hoping to get a job soon. I am seeking a job in film, such as as a director, which I have really wanted to do for a long time. However, in the meantime, I am still researching to find a job in London because the media world is so big in London and I would also love to live there.

'I made several films while I was a student. I created a sign-song video of two different pieces of music, as well as four comedy adverts and various short films.

'My interest in film came when I was a student at Sheffield University and I had a road traffic accident, which changed my life completely. I realised I had loved watching films all my life, so I became interested in filming and want to become a successful film director one day.

'The reason I wanted to make my Pulse film is that I want to show people what effect the stresses and strains of modern life have on people’s lives – the mind, emotions, health and moods. I put special effects in the film to demonstrate the effects on the mind. I wanted to reflect the need in everyone to find a space for themselves to relax.

'I have ideas for the next films I’ll be making but I’m doing research to find the appropriate stories first! I am also waiting to get a video camera and other things too. I am so thrilled at the idea of creating more films. This keeps me going, and I’m ambitious to continue – and to explore finding the right job at the same time.
