Gottlieb: Metronome
Vita Gottlieb, 25,
has been working as a first assistant director on short independent films
for about 18 months and at the same time writing her own material and
trying to source funding possibilities. She is also currently producing
and directing a documentary, funded by a Millennium Award, on how deaf
people sense and experience music, rhythm, and vibration.
'This film was the
impetus for the Pulse film,' Vita told VEE-TV. 'I wanted to show
that deaf people can experience music and that sensory impairment does
not need to hinder sensory appreciation.
'In the near future
I would like to learn more about the possibilities for internet distribution
for DV film-making, and make several short films on DV which I'll hopefully
exhibit on the internet. I would also love to make a short drama shot
on film, and have several other documentary ideas. I never want another
desk job, and hope to direct drama features one day.'
