Gordon Hay: Isolation

Gordon Hay is 18 years old and a full-time student at Mary Hare Grammar School for the Deaf, where he is in his final year studying photography (A level) and media studies (advanced GNVQ). Gordon was born and brought up in Edinburgh and moved to Wolverhampton two years ago because his father was taking up a lecturing post at the University of Wolverhampton.

At around the same time Gordon joined the BBC's See Hear team for work experience, during which he made a short programme about his hobbies, Games Workshop. 'It was a very good experience to learn the skills of filming and editing,' he says. Gordon has also made two film trailers as part of his media-studies GCSE and GNVQ. One of them was previewed with subtitles at the Film Festival in Wolverhampton last October.

Gordon found out about Pulse at this festival and decided to make a film about a deaf child with a deaf/hearing family. 'I would like to make other films,' he told VEE-TV. 'My favourite parts of the processes of media are editing and filming.'
