Vee-TV
Pulse
Pitch for Pulse
Pulse is a
strand of short films, mainly documentaries, made for VEE-TV by deaf film-makers
new to broadcasting. For the second series later in 2001 and stretching
into 2002, we want you to come up with creative ideas for films you would
like to make, or to send us films you have already made, which deserve
a wider audience.
What are we looking
for?
We are looking for
ideas that are original, imaginative and visual. We hope they will be
ambitious but they need to be realistic as well, because we have a limited
budget available. Have a look at the ideas for this series to get a sense
of the variety of films we have supported so far.
There are no restrictions
on subject matter but each film must be no more than five minutes in length
and will explore a strong personal perspective, an experience or a viewpoint.
We are looking for powerful images and messages from the frontline of
contemporary deaf culture.
Who can put forward
ideas?
The scheme is open
both to first-time and to experienced deaf film- and programme-makers.
There are no age limits, but its important to remember the target
age-group for the series is 18-25. You will need to demonstrate the appeal
of your idea to that audience.
How Pulse works
You can download an
application form (see links below) or e-mail or write for one to pulse@vee-tv.com
or Pulse at Resource Base, Television Centre, Southampton SO14 0PZ, then
send it in via e-mail or post to these addresses. We will consider ideas
at any time, but the sooner you make contact, the better. If we choose
to go with your idea, we would want to work with you on your film in the
autumn of 2001 ready for transmission early in 2002.
Guidelines for
applications
1. Ideas should be
for new films of no more than five minutes in length.
2. If you have already
made a film, it should be no more than five minutes long or have the potential
to be re-edited to this length.
3. Ideas should be
documentary/factual, as the series already has a drama strand. We will
also consider animation and experimental formats.
4. Films should be
shot on film or video, delivered onto broadcast-standard format.
