In Malaysia

Malaysia

Subject: Malaysia

Hi again

We didn't find much to do in Singapore so we escaped to Malaysia, which is a much more friendly, cheap and interesting place to be in. Everything is going well, although we did experience really bad jet-lag. So far we haven't stayed in one place for more than one night, but we have decided to stop over for two nights in Kota Tinggi on the south-east coast, as there are some interesting sights and rain forest here.

I am being discriminated against here! The locals in Singapore refused to talk to me but were more than happy to talk to Julian and Fiona. Huh! Julian and Fiona tend to get treated a bit better than me, so whenever we book into a hotel or hostel I leave it to them as I know I won't get as good a deal as them.

Tomorrow we are planning to head over to Malacca on the west coast of Malaysia. We are hoping to stay there for about four days, after that we will head on to Kuala Lumpur. Transport is not too bad here. Bus is the best way to get around, although I have to admit I was expecting to see people sitting on the roofs of buses etc etc … I was disappointed to find out that didn't happen here! Damn!

The locals are very very friendly in Malaysia and are always approaching us for a chat or to see if we need help or guidance. They really respect foreigners and make them feel welcomed in their town.

That's it from me

Rob

Subject: Malaysia – hello everyone!

Me had a haircut! My hair was too long and too hot! I was forced to go to cheap haircut salon as we agreed to control our budgets. Oh blimey! My hairstyle is an old-fashioned style in England but fashionable-ish in Malaysia.

Rob fell over in the river where we visited the waterfall. He tried to act like a cool man – he wore the designer clothes and looked really cool! He tried to throw water on me and I told him to be careful, but guess what – he fell over and got soaked! Damn that we didn’t film it to show to everyone in cold England.

We realised that we brought too much stuff in our bags as we can wash clothes every three days, so we need only three T-shirts, three shorts and blah and it would be easier for us to carry the bags. We decided to post our valuable clothes back to England to my mum's address (Mum please don’t touch it – leave it until six months' time OK! promise me!) and we had to throw away some clothes!!! The lady who is a maid in our hotel in Johore Bahru was shocked to see the clothes we threw away! She picked up a grey shirt of Fiona’s and made an odd expression and said ‘Urgh’. You should have seen Fiona's embarrassed expression! Poor Fiona! Her taste of clothes – hmmmmmmmmm.

We will go to visit the beach (hip hoorraayy) today! Then we will go to Malacca for exploring we dunno what there!!! Wish us luck!

Take care

Julian
