It is the day of Nicky's wedding. At the party, Kelly, Maya, Mel, Troy, Annie and Michael end up in a corner, catching up on what has been happening over the past few months. Their stories piece together the jigsaw of their lives over the three previous episodes.
It's Maya's turn first. We flash back to Kara's tribute night. Maya is waiting expectantly for the mystery man who's been texting her, and a man catches her eye and comes over. This must be – but suddenly he starts to strip off, singing 'Happy Birthday, Debbie'. In shock, Maya screams for Errol, who runs over and drags the man away.
Next it's Mel's turn. She recognises that the phone that has been receiving the messages is not Maya's, but hers – the one she dropped in the hotel the night she met Kerry. We return to the present day with Mel deep in thought. Images of Kerry texting fill her mind. She realises it is Kerry who has been sending Maya the messages on her phone. Then Michael's question about love in Mel's life prompts another series of memories. We see Mel and Kerry after spending the night together, and then Kerry's guilty behaviour before she betrays Mel to Casey to feed her drug habit (in the last series, Mel helped Nicky steal money from the safe at Casey's strip club, where she was working). As Kerry is dragged away, hysterical, Casey announces that he doesn't want Mel – he just wants his money, with interest.
We return to the wedding where Mel is telling Michael that she doesn't 'do love'. She has decided to try being deaf again, as she's no good at being hearing …
The attention shifts to Kelly, who claims she has no love interest either at the moment. Everyone starts teasing her about Adam, who she claims is just a friend. Kelly flashes back to the night she and Adam argued about love on a lonely road, and Kelly walked off. As she huddles in the doorway, Adam comes to join her. He apologises for what he said and they both reflect on how they always get things wrong together. They decide to be friends, and as they cuddle up together by the roadside, Kelly finds the keys to Adam's van – but puts them away, preferring to be right where she is now.
Adam and Nigel arrive at the church. Troy tells Adam the story of what happened between him and Nicky on the night of Nicky's boxing match and Kara's tribute. We last saw them squaring up to fight each other, and in the brawl that followed, three men attacked Troy. It was Nicky who then saved him. But things are still tense between the two friends.
The story of Nigel's brief appearances on Kara's tribute night, which have featured in all the previous episodes, then emerges. Nigel had met a deaf girl at Kara's, and when she was turned out of the club for being wrecked on drink and drugs, she latched onto him. Reluctant to leave the girl on her own, Nigel took her home with him. In the course of the night she died, probably from the effect of drink and drugs. Nigel panicked. Afraid to go to the police, he tried to get help from each of his group of friends in turn – but none of them had time for him. Michael reassures him that he didn't kill the girl, and he is taken away to be questioned by the police.
After the wedding celebrations, everyone gathers to wave Adam off as he leaves on his travels once again. Nicky comes over and asks if he can come along. The others are shocked – Nicky is a newly married man. Nicky explains that he caught Teresa kissing his friend Mark outside the church and also heard that the baby is not his. He grabs Troy and hugs him – his way of apologising.
Adam and Nicky say their goodbyes. Nicky hands over a wad of cash to Mel, while Adam and Kelly have a last moment together. The van pulls off, but it has only gone a few feet when it suddenly stops and Nicky leaps out for a pee. Suddenly, Kelly runs up to the van and jumps in. Nicky joins her and the three friends drive away …
