Episode 3

At the hospital where they work, Maya and Kelly look at Love Online, an internet site, hoping to put some romance into Maya's life. Writing to Adam, Maya tells of a nice man she met recently, who vanished half-way through the evening. Upset, she went to the toilet to compose herself. Picking up her mobile phone, which had fallen out of her bag, she then headed home.

Text messages in the night left her even more confused, but the next morning she realised the phone she had picked up was not hers. She contacts the sender of the messages to tell them they have been texting the wrong person. She is then stunned to receive a message describing what she was wearing the night before …

Later, Maya and Kelly are getting ready to go out for Kara's tribute night. Maya is still very excited by the messages she is getting, but Kelly is concerned that Maya has told the mysterious texter where they will be that evening.

We flash back to the end of episode 2: Kelly is surrounded by footballers in a hotel room. The situation is threatening, but Kelly manages to knee one of the players in the groin and run for it.

Kelly walks down a cold, dark lonely road wearing nothing but her very short dress. A car pulls up, and two men get out of the car and approach her. There is the sound of something like a gunshot, but it is only a backfiring exhaust – of Adam's broken down VW camper. Like a character from a western, Adam appears out of the mist and sweeps Kelly up in a hug. The kerb-crawlers make off, but as Kelly and Adam walk down the road, they are mugged and left stranded with no money, no phones and no van key. Angry and frightened, they keep walking, arguing about love, friendship and keeping in touch. Kelly admits that she loves Adam, but he is too angry and upset to say he loves her too. Kelly is deeply hurt, and walks off into the night …

Maya arrives at Kara's. We see a succession of images: Maya sitting at a table alone, clutching her phone and waiting to meet the mystery man; Troy with a bloody nose and Nicky with cuts on his face; Kerry and Mel together in bed; Adam walking along the street, deep in thought; Kelly sitting in a doorway, cold and shivering; and a shot of a newspaper headline: 'deaf girl found dead'.
