VEE-WORLD

Deaf Rave

This week in VEE-WORLD we found out about Brickfest, a large annual social event for students at the two deaf American universities – Gallaudet in Washington and the National Technical Institute for the Deaf (NTID) at Rochester Institute of Technology in New York.

Brickfest, as chairman of the event Carlos Mendez told VEE-TV, consists of two full days of sports, games and other events. On Saturday night a big off-campus party is held for students from both schools. The schools take it in turns as hosts: the Rochester weekend is called Brickfest; next year Gallaudet will stage the Rockfest.

Later in the series VEE-TV will be reporting from the first deaf social event in the UK on a similar scale: the Deaf Rave, to be held on 3 May in London. Sadly the London Deaf Rave is already sold out, but if you've got tickets, or you want to find out what you're missing, check out the Deaf Rave website at www.deafrave.com. Don't despair if you've missed out this time: more events are planned.
