Tony is outwardly a strong and confident character, quite comfortable with his gay sexuality. A new student at the college, he's amused at the discomfiture of Michael, the teacher, when Michael realises they've met before 'It was a challenge to play Tony, because he was the complete opposite to me,' says Marc Smith. 'But I understand what Tony has to face every day. I related to his passion for performance. I know and have seen quite a few flamboyant people, who like to dress up in outrageous clothes, and I based Tony on them. He likes to make people laugh and happy, which is what I like to do. 'The difficult thing about playing the character is when he gets personal with Michael (John Wilson). I have known John for a long time and it felt strange but it's only acting!' Born in 1971, Marc started dancing when he was four and went to Royal Ballet School when he was nine. From there he went to the London Studio Centre in King's Cross, where he trained for three years. He's toured around the UK with drama companies and dance companies and has taught performing arts and dance workshops all over England. Currently he is teaching dance classes in London. 'I very much enjoyed working on Rush,' Marc told VEE-TV online. 'It was a great learning experience and the crew and actors were all fantastic to work with. 'I would love to set up my own dance company and perform in the West End. Also I would love to do plays, TV and films.' |
