Rush

Rush focuses on the lives of six students at a mainstream college – on their relationships and their ambitions, and on their struggle to make sense of their lives.

Rush is written and directed by Ray Harrison Graham and produced by Hilary Durman, who together with Cilla Ware created the award-winning dramas Strong Language (Japan Prize, Prix Jeunesse) and Dream On (BAFTA and Royal Television Society).

Episode 5

Time is up for Nigel to pay his gambling debts, and Michael finds him sleeping in his caretaker's room at the college. He lends him some money, promising not to tell.

Later Michael finds Annie struggling with rehearsals for the college production of Cabaret. Annie mentions to Michael that she's told Tony to have a word with him as he seems to be a bit anxious. Michael looks less than thrilled at the prospect.

A very glamorous Mel arrives in the college canteen where Maya, Adam, Troy and Kelly are chatting. She has a carefully chosen present for each of them. Adam and Troy are prepared to leave the past behind, Kelly manages a 'thank you', but Maya rejects her gift and tells Mel to leave.

Mel goes to visit Nicky in prison. He is pleased by the present of a GameBoy but puzzled by a book she gives him – Catcher in the Rye. He can see that Mel is feeling very low, but she doesn't reveal why.
