Experimental Journey

Experimental Journey by Vita Gottlieb

'Experimental Journey is about the joys of being in a bubble of silence and enjoying being deaf in a noisy bustling city like London,' Vita Gottlieb tells VEE-TV. 'A girl glides through London oblivious to the hectic world around her.'

Vita, 26, is currently doing a variety of jobs – from extras work to bar work – while trying to make films. She studied history of art at Leeds University and went on to play various roles in film and TV. In production, she initially worked as a first assistant director on short independent films for about 18 months. At the same time she was writing her own material and investigating sources of funding. She made Metronome for the first series of Pulse and is currently producing and directing a documentary, funded by a Millennium Award, on how deaf people sense and experience music, rhythm and vibration.

'I'd like to direct a drama film next and am reading scripts as I write,' Vita says. 'Also I am now in the process of approaching potential funders in order to raise completion finance for a comprehensive 50-minute documentary.'
