Image is everything; clothes, make-up and the way we choose to wear them reflect our personalities to the outside world.
Big Brother has stripped the housemates of their identities.
"Removing possessions is a method of de-personalisation and the fall out has been very revealing," comments Dr Gareth Smith, Teen Big Brother's psychiatrist.
"Jade has had the strongest reaction to this," he says, "she feels exposed without her make-up and therefore insecure."
However during the task, the fact that they all look similar acts as a facilitator to bring them all together.
"The exception is James," says Dr Gareth. "He tries to hold on to his individuality and gets angry when Big Brother strips him of this."
When the task is over and they no longer have a common goal, the housemates try as best they can to be different, even to the extent of changing their names and totally rejecting their uniform.
"This," says Dr Gareth, "is a house of individuals and whatever
Big Brother does they will always attempt to remain themselves."
