 
A Racist Point?
Hasan corrects Tommy on his racial terminology...
It started off as an innocent story about fish, but without thinking, Tommy managed to offend Hasan by referring to Chinese people as 'chinkies.'
"You get those puffa fish and they're like poisonous," explained Tommy to James and Hasan, while they were relaxing in the garden. "Geezers pay thousands of pounds just to eat some, but if they're not prepared properly, you can die," he explained incredulously.
"All these chinkies pay loads of money," he continued, before Hasan launched into him.
"Wo, wo, wo man! What did you just call them?" the London boy asked.
Tommy quickly realised his error and apologised. "That's a good point," he said. "Sorry. I can't help it though, it's where I live, right."
"It's quite racist, man," continued Hasan. "I think you should publicly apologise to them. I think I've just installed a good habit in you!"
"I think you have, mate," agreed Tommy. "I'm sorry, I didn't mean any offence to Chinese people. I didn't think it was a racial name, I thought it was like a nickname."
Hasan soon put him right. "When most people say 'chink' they mean it as an offensive term for all Oriental people," he explained.
A sleepy James suddenly piped up and reminded Hasan of a potentially derogatory term he'd made about homosexuals earlier.
"But you said 'poof' earlier but didn't mean anything," he said to Hasan.
"That doesn't count," Hasan replied quickly. "Sexuality is a path that you've chosen but your ethnic background is chosen by God already."
"It's not fair to call somebody a poof though," retorted James.
"I think that a racial slur is way more harsh than a sexual slur," concluded Hasan, defensively.
"I would say both are the same," James and Tommy agreed, but it seemed as if Hasan wouldn't be persuaded.
