How were the eight housemates chosen?
Channel 4 Television and Endemol, the production company, asked people to apply via the Big Brother website if they wanted to take part in the show. Thousands applied, but the final eight were chosen as a diverse group who represented the range of young people in Britain today. Just like the normal Big Brother shows, the housemates had to pass tests for psychological and emotional fitness.
Did the housemates have access to the outside world?
No. Just like all the other Big Brother housemates before them, communication with the outside world was strictly forbidden, except in exceptional circumstance, for example, if one of them needed to speak to a doctor or other medical professional. Of course, Big Brother was always there to listen!
Did they have any special treatment?
There was no special treatment for the contestants in Teen Big Brother. Like all the other Big Brother housemates before them, the eight had to take part in and pass tasks in order to win their food budget, and they had to adhere to the same sets of rules as previous housemates. Plus, they were not allowed alcohol or cigarettes.
When can I watch it on TV?
There will be five one-hour Teen Big Brother shows broadcast from October 13th
to 18th on Channel 4 at 10pm. Each show will feature a forward by presenter
Dermot O'Leary. E4 will also preview each episode a day ahead of transmission
on Channel 4. Check out when it's on here.
Will there be another Teen Big Brother?
There are no plans at present for a new show with new contestants. But who knows?
Will there be a Big Brother for younger teens?
Probably not. There are health and safety rules that make this unlikely.
Where can I find out what the Teen Big Brother contestants are doing now?
In the New Year there will be a special show outlining what the lucky eight have been up to since their spell in the Big Brother House.
Why isn't there any live streaming?
Teen Big Brother was pre-filmed back in July and August this year so it is not happening live.
Why was there no public voting?
As the series was pre-filmed back in July and August, there can be no public voting. Any evictions throughout the show's run were voted on by the housemates themselves, and the eventual winner was also chosen by a group decision.
I've heard the show will be broadcast again. Is this true?
An edited version of Teen Big Brother The Experiment will be broadcast in January 2004 as part of 4Learning's morning schedule and was designed with formal curriculum teaching in mind. The compulsory tasks in the house are intended to support teaching of Citizenship and the Key Skills Curriculum set out by the Qualifications and Curriculum Authority. The challenges set for the housemates highlight problem solving, working with others and improving learning and performance. Web-based resources, supporting the use of Teen Big Brother in colleges and schools, will also be available.
