In 2008 for the first time in its history Taste of London, played host to a celebration of Chinese cuisine. As part of the CHINA NOW festival, visitors to the capital's food festival were invited to sample Taste of China.
Fans of Chinese cuisine were taken on a culinary tour through the diverse range of cuisines this exciting country has to offer. With so many regional delicacies, it was a gourmand's paradise. From the hot and fiery flavours of Sichuan to the delicate seasoning of Cantonese food, there was something for everybody.
Amoy was the title sponsor of Taste of China. They provided a full programme of entertainment within the Amoy theatre. This featured cooking demonstrations from chefs at Beijing's Lan restaurant as well as chefs from some of London's top Chinese restaurants, including Kai, Snazz Sichuan and China Tang who all created mouth-watering dishes right before your eyes.
Once guests had eaten their fill of delicious Chinese food and watched the masters at work, they relaxed with a cold, authentic Chinese beer courtesy of Harbin, the oldest brewery in China whilst dragon dances, ice-carvers, acrobatic Shaolin monks and Tai Chi performances provided the entertainment.
