Imagine a picnic in a park. Now multiply it by thousands of people. Invite all the best restaurants in the area to contribute the food, and discerning vintners to bring the bottles. Make sure some of the guests are famous chefs happy to help out with cooking hints, and organise live music to eat and drink by. This is a Taste Festival.

In 2008 there were five festivals in the UK, plus two in Ireland, all based in city parks and each one proudly focusing on the finest local restaurants and produce.

Taste of London has now closed – 19-22 June
Taste of Edinburgh has now closed – 29 May - 1 June
Taste of Bath has now closed – 3-6 July
Taste of Leeds has now closed – 5-8 June
Taste of Birmingham has now closed – 10-13 July

Taste of Cork has now closed – 27-29 June
Taste of Dublin has now closed – 12-15 June
