How to Look Good Knackered
With so many of us leading such hectic lives, having that little extra beauty sleep is just impossible. Feeling knackered is now a normal part of life, but that doesn’t mean that we have to look that way too. Here Daniel gives us his tips on how to look hot even when you’re feeling decidedly not.
- First remove any old make up from around the eyes and then spritz the face and body with an atomiser; he loves Caudalie Grape Water (£8.00).
- Follow this with Yves Saint Laurent Touche Éclat Radiant Touch (£22.50) under the eye to brighten any dark areas.
- Daniel’s top tip is to use a lilac eye shadow on the lid, he used Mini Bourjois Paris Eye shadow (£2.95), this freshens the skin and brightens the whites of the eyes.
- Finish the eyes with lashings of false lash effect mascara like Bourjois Paris Coup de Théâtre! Mascara (£8.95).
- Add some colour to the cheeks. Choose a peachy shade if you are blonde or fair and a pinker shade if you are a brunette or have a warmer skin tone. For the show, Daniel used Givenchy Prisme Again! Blush in No7 Pop Candy
- Don’t forget to freshen up the rest of the body too. Warm up dull tired skin by moisturising with a bronzing product like Sisley Paris Phyto-Touche for the body, face and hair (£37.50)
- Rev up the skin by brushing on a loose bronzer like Mac Bronzing Powder (£14) or Body Shop Brush on Bronze (£12). Run it up the backs of your legs to create the illusion of skyscraper pins.
For this week’s (15th April 2008) extreme test Rebecca wore Bourjois Paris Volume Clubbing Mascara (£7.95) that claims to be both tear proof and sweat proof. As a control Carole wore the Boots Natural Collection Mascara (£1.99), which makes no claims at all.
We put the Bourjois mascara through its paces at TASTE restaurant at Ealing Hammersmith and West London College. The girls worked in the hot and busy kitchen over the lunch shift chopping piles upon piles of onions and working up a sweat by the hot ovens.
As expected the non-waterproof version ran down Carole’s face after just a few tears, but Bourjois Paris’s Volume Clubbing Mascara stayed on through Rebecca's tear test. But when we turned up the heat for the sweat test the mascara began to clump off in dots under the eye – although it never actually ran.
