Whether you're petite and waif-like or a voluptuous vixen everyone has one item of clothing that it's hard to find a perfect fit for. With her typical hourglass shape, Liz found that getting smart tailored trousers was proving to be a particular pain.
Luckily Gok was on hand to offer the following expert advice:
When shopping for trousers, don't just head to the trouser department but spend some time exploring the suit section too. With more choice available you can usually buy the trousers separately from the jacket, doubling your chances of finding the perfect pair to accentuate your pins.
Never rely on shop sizes as they vary from store to store. If, like Liz, you fall between a size 14 or 16, then try out a "14 long" as they may be that little bit fuller. Not only could you find the perfect shape to flatter your form but you can bask in the knowledge that you’ve instantly dropped a dress size!
Iron a crease down the front and back of your trouser legs, visually stretching your shape and making you seem thinner.
If you find trousers that are great on the bum but too long in the leg, buy them anyway and have them tailored to the right length. For the sake of a few extra quid and a bit of TLC from a seamstress, you can step out in trousers that fit like a glove – definitely worth the effort.
Lighter colours can make you look bigger so unless you’re blessed with a pair of super-slim legs opt for darker hues. If you're pear-shaped or have an hourglass figure shy away from tapered trousers as these too can emphasise your curves. Instead go for the wide legged option which are deceiving to the eye and make you look slimmer.
If you’re lucky enough to have skinny pins then show them off in a pair of skinny-fit trousers combined with a pair of heels for guaranteed long-look legs.
The pear-shaped princesses amongst you should opt for a style that skims the hips then falls straight for the floor, elongating the appearance of your legs and optically shedding pounds from your figure.
Masculine tailoring is the way to go for skinny girls, with the wide-leg look adding volume to your shape and filling out your figure.
Tight trousers can work for pear shapes. Wear strong colours on top to draw the eye to the trimmer part of your body.
A structured corset under a sharp suit shows off hourglass bangers and waspish waists.
If you have a more athletic shape, keep it softer and more feminine with a rock n roll frock.
Petite girls who want to make a big impact are lucky as they can carry off uber-glam shiny fabrics, grabbing the limelight at any old gig.
