This week our one hundred luscious ladies are testing four micro-dermabrasion home product kits, but what are they and do they actually work?
Firstly, there is a difference between a salon treatment and an over-the-counter product. As a salon treatment, micro-dermabrasion claims to remove the uppermost layers of dead skin (the impressively titled stratum corneum) and claims to help smooth and refresh the skin. It involves using rough crystal particles to scrub dead skin away, exposing the live, new skin underneath.
The home treatment is a light abrasion technique which claims to freshen up skin. They contain an active ingredient that also claims to remove dead skin cells to expose new skin beneath.
