Louise:
I'm a size 14-16. I have curvy hips and I'm around a 34DD. My problem is that although I have big boobs, my shoulders are narrow. There are lots of styles I'd like to wear to slim down my hips, but a lot of dresses in this style are low cut or strapless and I can't afford to go without straps on my bra. Should I be dressing as a pear-shape or should I dress as an hourglass? What styles of dresses do you suggest would suit my shape?

Gok:
Your sexy silhouette is begging to be outlined in a dress, I would suggest that you stay away from unstructured slip dresses as you know as they will just hang off you. A three quarter sleeve, square neck, dress with kick pleats at the hem is perfect for your silhouette. The sleeves will finish at waist level focusing attention on your slimmest part, and the square neck will broaden your shoulders, slimming your waist in.

A cheeky tip to get you through the party season – a fake fur bolero jacket or capelet is a glamorous finishing touch to broaden your top half and balance out your bottom.

Paivi:
I’m 159 cm tall and size 10-12, but I’m all legs and no body – my legs are 33 inches. How can I hide the short back and make myself look more balanced? I find that dresses look awful on me and I cannot tuck shirts in as this makes me look even more odd sized.

Gok:
Stay away from Empire lines as they will make your legs look a hundred miles long. Look for a dress with hanger appeal – sounds strange I know but if the the dress already has better curves than you, buy it! A full skirt defines the waist, creating an hour glass shape. Wearing your hems higher than knee length will show off your enviably long legs, but will also make you look less curvaceous. Go for a pencil skirt that narrows at the hem (especially if it then kicks out again into pleats or frills) – this will make your hips appear rounder. Avoid pointy toed shows with spiky heels which will elongate your legs. Instead go for round toes, ankle straps and ankle boots, which will all crop the length of your legs and emphasize your calves, making them look curvier. Round toed shoes or flat riding boots worn over jeans will break up your legs and create curves.
