Did you know…?

• Jamelia Davis is from Smethwick in the West Midlands. She signed to EMI at the age of 15 after impressing record executives with a self-written song recorded on a karaoke machine.



• Jamelia has 2 daughters – Teja aged 7 and Tiani 3. In June 2008 Jamelia married footballer Darren Byfield, the father of Tiani.



• Jamelia has been dubbed the 'British Beyonce', generating huge acclaim for her hit singles Superstar, Thank You and See It In A Boy's Eyes (co-written with Coldplay's Chris Martin).



• She has received six Brit Awards nominations.



• She has won three MOBOs and one Q Award.



• Jamelia is signed up to Naomi Campbell's modelling agency, ICM.



• Her first album was called Drama and her first solo single was called I Do which was shortly followed by Money featuring Beeni Man. This song was a huge hit peaking at number 5 in the charts. The video later won a MOBO for best video.



• Jamelia's second studio album was called Thank You and was released in 2002. She achieved chart-topping hits from this album with Superstar reaching number 3 and Thank You reaching number 2. Thank you also received the 2004 MOBO award for best single and a BRIT award.



• Jamelia is currently working on a new album.



• In 2004, Jamelia was signed by model agency ICM. Just a week later she was chosen to be the face and legs of Pretty Polly and later she modeled for Reebok.



• She has endorsed many different products and is the brand ambassador for maternity wear line Seraphine. She has graced the cover of many magazines including Cosmopolitan, Company, Elle and Harpers and Queen.



• Jamelia is also the face of Toni and Guy's Model.Me range alongside models Erin O'Connor and Helena Christensen.
