Online Action

What you can do online – using any of the internet's technologies, from web to e-mail to internet chat – has become really important to the activist scene. Used for everything from organising demos and rallies, to attacking the websites of out-of-line multinationals, it's no exaggeration to say that the internet is one of the most important tools in the activist's box.

But how do you use it? For too many people, the web's just another way of consuming media pumped out by someone else. And e-mail's such an established part of everyday life that it's difficult to see how it could have any groundbreaking potential. In this section, we'll introduce some projects that show just how effective the internet can be as a political tool – and get you started as an online activist.
