Ed Morrissey’s Captain’s Quarters website
Edward Morrissey
Shooting down liberal journalists in great balls of flame is
Edward Morrissey's speciality. Via his weblog, Captain's
Quarters, Morrissey played a big part last year in taking
down CBS' anchor Dan Rather over the Memogate affair, which cast
doubt on Bush's military service in Vietnam.
This year, it was CNN's Eason Jordan, who had to resign after
claiming that several journalists killed by Allied forces in Iraq
had been deliberately targeted. Neither of the newsmen were able
to substantiate their stories, and Morrissey was there to make
sure they knew it.
And boy, do they know it. 'The media can't just cover up the
truth and expect to get away with it,' he says. 'Journalists can't
just toss around allegations without substantiation and expect
people to believe them anymore.'
Of course, some will say it's easy to destroy a slack journalist's
career on a blog. But Morrissey wasn't winner of the 2004 Best
Conservative Blog Award for nothing. He's been important in bringing
stories others won't cover into the light of day. Whatever your
political leanings, Edward Morrissey is living proof of just how
powerful a political tool the weblog can be.
