What do I get in return for this debt?

You want to go to university. You’ve decided that you can deal with your debts. But you might still be asking what are the benefits.

The pros

A degree will get you higher wages when you start working.

It’s also more likely to get you promotion.

But university isn’t just about studying. It’s also a great opportunity to meet friends, try different activities and start to understand yourself better.

It isn’t easy to get a degree, and if you manage it you’ll feel really proud of yourself.

Universities have lots of resources – sporting facilities, full computer access and masses of other stuff that will enrich your experience.

The cons

If you study in England or Wales, you’ll be paying back your loan for a long time.

Getting into trouble with your loan could affect your credit rating – you might find it hard to get a mortgage, credit card and bank account in the future.

If you have to work part-time your studying may suffer.
