'This democracy was betrayed by a government which took it to
war on lies, spending millions of pounds on killing, which could
have been used for so much this country and the world needs better.
The only thing we have is our vote in the next election to hold
back politicians who ignore our will and waste our money
on organised murders.'
Maxine Peake (Veronica in Shameless)
'What I really get fired up about is the political apathy that
is rife in this country. Politics affect everyone in every aspect
of their lives and we owe it to ourselves to become politically
aware, to ask questions and get involved and not only at home
but to get interested in global politics too. Knowledge is power
as they say and we can only make a change when we know what we're
up against and VOTE. I know it's hard nowadays finding a party
to vote for as the differences are diminishing but it's one piece
of power we possess and we shouldn't squander it.'
Burt Kwouk (actor)
'I believe everyone should vote. Young people often think it
doesn’t matter, that it doesn’t make any difference – but it does.
In the past, people died in the struggle for the right to vote
so that we can change the government if we don’t like what they
are doing. I urge you to exercise your power to vote.'
