Being the son of rock darlings Ozzy and Sharon and as a star of the family's now legendary MTV reality show The Osbournes.

'Because when I am old and dying, I want to be content that I've done everything I wanted to do in life. And, I'm trying to quit drinking alcohol, so I was keen to experience something new.'

Did t'ai chi help him conquer his inner fear?
'Yes – I was able to sit on an extremely high mountaintop and watch the sunset.'

How has the course changed his life?
'Doing this feels like one of the best decisions I've ever made. It was an adrenalin rush. I feel so energetic and enlightened and so grateful that I could come and do it.'

'I liked the idea of challenging myself.'

'I was surprisingly undaunted by the exercises we were asked to do. Sometimes it felt really beautiful and amazing to be way up there doing these tasks.'

'I am sorry to say that what I really realised was that I couldn't live without hot water and electricity.'

'I get really wound up and stressed. I thought that doing this might help me be more calm.'

'I had my doubts about therapies and the hugger-mugger and brainwashing sessions but I actually conquered my fear of heights.'

How has the course changed her life?
'If you had told me I would be doing things like I did, I would have thrown up. I never ever believed that I could do the things I ended up doing. I feel enhanced, empowered and in a much better place. I feel I can do anything and everything's within my grasp.'

Writing tabloid columns and being the warm-up act on the very first episode of Have I Got News For You.

'I suffer from stress, anxiety and insomnia and liked the idea of finding a better way of coping.'

Did t'ai chi help him conquer his inner fear?
'At times, I found it so hard that I was just a thin membrane away from tears – and I didn't even cry when my children were born. I did things I never ever believed I could or would ever do. I got so much out of the t'ai chi. Chris, our tutor, has had an astonishing effect on me.'

How has the course changed his life?
'I've never achieved anything like it – apart from producing two kids.'

'I'm keen to try everything and I liked the idea that I might come back having learned something or feeling a little bit changed.'

'I was curious and because we never knew what was coming next, that added to the excitement. But there are some things that should be done in private.'

'It enforces the idea that sex is a great part of life.'

'I liked the idea of being in Thailand exploring things that I've never done before.'

'It was really tough at times – the mosquito bites made me ill. I don't know that I actually enjoyed it.'

'It wasn't a sexual thing; it was a chance to have a bit of fun in the sun.'

'It was horrible and there were some things that I was just not going to do.'

How has the course changed his life?
'I'm not 100% sure yet.'

'I liked the idea of feeling "transformed". And, I wasn't quite sure what my inner-self was, so I was keen to explore that aspect of things. Generally, I wanted to be transformed in a "we can rebuild him" kind of way.'

'Yes.'

What did it taste like?
'Not as bad as you might think.'

How has the course changed his life?
'I feel 100% fitter, healthier and wiser.'

Losing her job after failing to turn up to present her Radio 1 show after a big night out.

'Though I'm not an out-and-out hippy, I liked the idea of "clearing my soul". I wanted to come back and feel really light and pure and clean – and hollow, in a good way.'

Did she drink her own pee?
'No. I find the whole idea repulsive.'

How has the course changed her life?
'It's given me a chance to engage in some serious self-analysis.'

'I have a compulsive, obsessive personality. I managed to kick my drink and drug habits, so now I would like to stop eating rubbish. And, I thought it would be a laugh.'

Did he drink his own pee?
'Yes – it tasted like two-day old wine.'

How has the course changed his life?
'At first, I was stuck between the desire to reach a higher spiritual plane and an equally strong desire to arse around. I got into it so much that I stayed on for a few days longer. I've definitely let go of some mental baggage.'

Launching the award-winning Rough Guide travel series on BBC2 and being the face of 80s and 90s youth TV – and never being seen without her trademark dark glasses.

'I liked the idea of the spiritual challenge.'

'My doctor says it is actually good for you.'

How has the course changed her life?
'I feel a hell of a lot better than when I arrived but I can't say I will be drinking copious amounts of salt water every day.'

Putting the 'Madchester' music scene on the map.

'I thought it sounded like a very interesting thing to do.'

How did it feel taking hallucinogenic drugs live on TV?
'I didn't like the idea that the course leader seemed to differentiate between everyday street drugs and the herbal concoctions we took here. He seemed to think there was something more pure about his ones but they are not, they all come from similar sources. Taking the brews that they made felt like medicine for the soul.'

How has the course changed his life?
'At first, I was a bit pathetic about joining in but I spent the entire week thinking about my family and friends and realising how important they were.'

'I was very keen on the idea of a spiritual odyssey and of finding myself.'

'I thought I was going to die. The trip was truly terrifying. But going through that and letting yourself go is like letting go of your ego that resists everything. It is like a total and utter surrender of yourself.'

How has the course changed her life?
'Getting off my face in Peru was extraordinary. I feel like I have been taken apart and put back together again in a completely different way.'

'I feel the medicine did have an effect. I know who I am now. I feel complete, proud of myself and at peace with myself. The whole reason for doing it makes sense.'
